Eastern Green Link 2 and SSEN Transmission teams support Aberdeenshire community during heavy snow
Eastern Green Link 2’s Peterhead team answered a call for assistance from NHS Grampian in January during the severe winter conditions affecting the region.
Aberdeenshire was hit by some of the harshest winter weather in recent years, with heavy snowfall causing significant disruption across the north-east region. As roads became too treacherous for many commuters, the EGL2 team stepped up to help a healthcare worker reach patients in need and an elderly neighbour who had become snowed in.
In response to a request from NHS Grampian, the team member transported a carer from Maud to Ellon and back using one of the project’s 4WD trucks, ensuring that two vital home appointments could be kept despite the adverse weather.
Beyond healthcare transport, the Peterhead Substation team and EGL2 team worked together during the same period to support an elderly neighbour who had become snowed in and was experiencing internet connectivity issues. After receiving a call from a concerned relative, the project manager from Peterhead Substation alerted the EGL2 team and they worked together on a response. During a home visit to discuss the issue with the resident, two of our EGL2 team members took the initiative to clear snow from around the house, ensuring safe access and peace of mind for her relatives.
The rapid response shown by the teams to those who were most at risk during cold weather reflects their dedication and commitment to making a difference to the communities that SSEN Transmission operates in.
