Update on our marine works

The marine components of our project are making significant strides, with exciting developments on our marine cable route. At the heart of these advancements is our partnership with Prysmian, a contractor which specialises in the production of electrical cable.

In Finland, Prysmian has started the manufacturing of our undersea cable, and has also begun to construct a new manufacturing plant and commissioning a state-of-the-art cable laying vessel specifically for the EGL2 project.

Furthermore, we have made progress working on the contract and its administration with GeoXYZ offshore. This collaboration is aimed at initially identifying possible targets for further investigations. Such preliminary work is crucial as it allows Prysmian to micro-route their cable, facilitating a more detailed and focused approach in the subsequent phases. This effort is instrumental for EGL2 to undertake a more comprehensive survey along the selected micro-route, optimising the project's execution and efficiency.

Meanwhile, at sea, our teams are currently engaged in offshore UXO (Unexploded Ordnance) surveys, a crucial step in ensuring the safety and success of the cable laying process. These surveys involve scanning and probing the marine environment to identify any objects that could pose a risk to our operations.

The findings from these surveys are instrumental for Prysmian, enabling them to refine the cable’s route. This meticulous planning is key to minimising risks and ensuring that the cable installation is not only successful but also secure.
