Ground investigation works have been taking place at the Wren Hall converter station site in Drax in recent months to prepare the site for the main construction phase. This has involved completing borehole works and archaeological surveys.
During the borehole works, we conducted extensive investigations to understand the site's geology, enabling us to comprehend the soil and rock composition ahead of construction.
Additionally, the archaeological surveys enabled us to identify any historical artifacts and features on site ahead of building any proposed infrastructure in the vicinity.
Furthermore, we have been procuring enabling works for the diversion of overhead lines to ensure that the site is ready for subsequent phases of the project.
We were pleased that no concerns were raised during the ground investigation works at the Wren Hall converter station site. Therefore the main construction phase is on track to be completed in 2029.
